Perlite Attic Insulation

Perlite loose fill masonry insulation offers excellent thermal and fire resistant properties at an economical cost.

One common brand was called zonolite. Fiberglass rigid foam and other insulating materials have largely replaced granular fill insulation in attics and wall cavities within residential structures. This material is particularly popular as a form of loose fill attic insulation. Vermiculite attic insulation is a pebble like pour in product and is usually light brown gray or gold in color.

In addition to improving thermal resistance perlite insulation also blocks unwanted noise to keep the inside of the home quieter. Perlite is a type of rock a form of volcanic glass which is mined crushed heated and thus expanded 4 to 20 x original volume to form an inorganic insulating material. Do not store boxes or other items in your attic if it contains vermiculite insulation. Do not allow children to play in an attic with vermiculite insulation. Perlite insulation is an inorganic product that does not support combustion or rot nor does it provide a habitat for rodents.
